lyrics

In a town called Louisville, there lived a man they called Big Bad Bill.
I wanna tell you, he sure was tough (yeah he certainly did strut his stuff).
He had folks all scared to death,
When he walked past, they held their breath.
He was a fightin' man, sure enough.
Now Bill got himself a wife, and he lives a different life.

Oh, Big Bad Bill is Sweet William now,
Married life has changed him some how.
He the man that they all used to fear,
Now the people call him Sweet Papa Willie dear.
Stronger than Samson, I declare,
'Til his ma'am hit him down on his head!

Big Bad Bill don't fight anymore.
He washes the dishes, and he mops up the floor.
Yeah he used to spend his evenings looking for a fight,
But now he's got to see his mama every night!
Big Bad Bill is Sweet William now.

I must say it's mighty strange, to see the way the man has changed.
Roaring lion, is now a lamb, shut up just like a clam.
He had a deep bass voice, I'll never forget,
Now he sings soprano in the church quartet.
He answers mama yes, no, thankyou ma'am.
And I hear the neighbours say, he's learning to crochet!

Oh, Big Bad Bill don't fight anymore.
He's the guy that everyone adores!
Yes he's that red hot papa that you heard about,
To that cool mama put his fire out.
Big Bad Bill is Sweet William now.
Oh, Big Bad Bill is Sweet William now.
Yeah, Big Bad Bill is Sweet William now.
